Faulty iOS Setup Cable or iOS problem?

The white 3pole jack that came with my tentacles seems to be faulty.  Initially I thought it was my iPhone however I get connection issues with my iPad Mini as well.

Before I try to get a new cable have there been any known issues with the latest iOS update?

I just tested the cable with a continuity tester and it’s the Ground that I think is broken.  The last ring of the 4 contacts.
